Serving Those Who Served Our Country

Community Hospice is a partner in the We Honor Veterans program -- a joint venture with the Veterans Administration (VA), the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), local hospices and other community partners across the nation. The We Honor Veterans (WHV) program was developed to help hospice organizations recognize the unique needs of veterans and their families.  WHV helps us help those who have so honorably served this country in defense of our freedoms.

Community Hospice has successfully completed all the requirements and has been recognized as a Level V partner, the highest level of achievement.  Through the We Honor Veterans program we have made a commitment to continually educate our staff about veterans’ issues, utilize our vet-to-vet volunteer program, recognize our patients with a We Honor Veterans certificate that is distinctive to their branch of military service, offer a special Veterans Day Service in November, assist families in receiving any military benefits including special military honors or metals for their loved ones, and provide any other special assistance.

Because of this partnership and commitment, we have a better understanding of the sacrifices veterans have made for all Americans and want to ensure we have the skills needed to take care of the sometimes unique end-of-life care needs of our veterans. Community Hospice is proud to honor our veterans every day of the year, but it seems especially fitting that Veterans Day falls during November which is also recognized as National Hospice and Palliative Care Month.
